Intro Math

Welcome to my Intro Math series! Here I’ll offer some info about the series, and you can find links to all the topics below.

The standard mathematics education has students working through Calculus, then moves into proof-based math. This is a significant jump and can be jarring for many students. Lots of new concepts and ways of thinking are introduced.

With these posts, I hope to make the transition a little smoother. Each post covers a topic that I believe should be learned in this phase of math education.

There is some overlap, as I want each post to stand on its own – the exception is for multi-part posts. I didn’t write these with a specific order in mind, but the posts are listed below in my recommended reading order.

As always, you will gain a much deeper understanding if you do the problems included at the end!

Set Theory Part 1

Set Theory Part 2

Quantifiers

Logical Implications

Modulo and Equivalence Relations

Bijective Functions

Binary Functions
